Why we write this.
This is the first thing we publish here, so it should say what this is and — more useful to you — what it is not.
Who is writing
An independent studio building LumaDeck Pro, a visual instrument for the DJ booth: you open it, you play, and when the show grows the same file grows with it — timeline, video mapping, several outputs. Desktop, works offline, bought once.
We are not a marketing department with a content calendar. What ends up here is what we ran into that week.
What you will find
The boring problems that decide a show. Not the ones that look good in a feature list — the ones that ruin a night: the projector running at a refresh rate nobody checked, the sound arriving late at the back of the room, the software dying at 2 a.m. with a full house watching.
That is most of the craft, it is barely written down anywhere, and you usually learn it the expensive way. If we can save you one of those nights, this was worth writing.
The rule we are giving ourselves
- Only what we have actually done and measured. If we say eleven seconds, it is because we timed it. If we have not measured something, we say so.
- No competitors by name. We are not here to talk about anybody else. If a comparison is useful we will describe the situation, not point at a brand.
- The limit goes next to the claim. If something is assisted, we write assisted. If something is a first version, we say it is a first version. No wriggle room.
- No inflated numbers. We have an audience of roughly nobody and we would rather grow slowly than round anything up.
What you will not find
No "top 10 tools". No listicles written to feed a search engine. No case studies from clients we do not have. And nothing described as finished that is not finished — that is the fastest way to lose someone who works live for a living, and the hardest thing to get back.
Where to start
If you run visuals in front of people, the two most useful things here right now are the one about sound taking 3 ms per metre — why your cut looks late at the back of the room — and the one about your projector running at 50 Hz while your software runs at 60, which is behind most of the judder nobody can explain.
